Choice book report

I read the book Gregor and the Prophecy of the Bane. It is a book by Suzanne Collins and it is the second book out of a five book series. The main characters name his Gregor. His family is short on money so he has to wear old clothes and live in an apartment. He has two sisters name Lizzie and boots. Boots is 4 and Lizzie is 8. In the first book boots and Gregor fall into the Underland. It is a land filled with huge, five foot bloodthirsty rats, three foot cockroaches, oversized mice, ants and moths.
Down in the Underland Gregor is called the “warrior” and he’s supposed to kill a huge white rat called the bane. It’s supposedly the meanest, toughest and strongest rat of all. But Gregor is just a normal kid who likes school, friends, family and track, and they think he is just supposed to kill a huge bloodthirsty rat?! One day when Gregor is in the Underland they have Gregor do a test to see how many blood balls he can hit. Blood balls are little balls filled with water colored red. They are shot out of the cannon at the person doing the test, which is Gregor. He goes up to the cannons and boom! He hits all 15 of the blood balls. After that a rat called Twitchtip tells him that he rager. She says a rager is a “natural born killer”
After Twitchtip tells him he is a rager he fells sad, angry and proud all the same time. He feels proud because he has cool skills that you can’t learn. He also feels angry and sad because he doesn’t want to kill thing and have fun doing it.
There are many conflicts in this book because he and his are always getting in trouble and letting attacked by serpents, rats and many other creatures in the Underland. Gregors group is Luxa, Boots, Mareth, Howard and Twitchtip the rat. The have to overcome many obstacles through out the book to survive.
Since the book has so much action and suspense it is a book that keeps you thinking and hook on the book. This is a book for all ages and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Flipped
By:Baxter Banwell
I chose to read the book Flipped. It’s about two characters who don’t know each other at first but at the end they become good friends. Bryce is one of the main characters in the book. He’s in eighth grade, has blue eyes, black hair and a good smile. He had a pretty easy life until the girl Julie moved across the street and started causing trouble.
Even though Bryce and Julie have been neighbors for over a year Bryce and Julie don’t know each other very well, except for the fact that Bryce doesn’t like Julie but Julie likes Bryce a lot and has a crush on him.
Bryce is the kind of guy who likes to keep things to himself. He likes to stay huddled up in his room and only hang out with certain people. Julie is the exact opposite. During the whole book Julie is trying to become friends with everyone and stay busy all the time.
Julie is a girl with long blonde hair and likes to do things her way. One of her favorite things to do was climb in an old Sycamore tree and swing on the branches and watch the sunset. Julie likes Bryce a lot but he doe’s a lot of things that make her angry during the book. One of the things is, one day Julie is playing on the old Sycamore tree waiting for the bus. A few moments later men arrived with chainsaws saying Julie had to get out of the tree because they were going to cut down the tree. Just as Julie was about to get out of the tree Bryce arrived. Julie begged Bryce to come up the tree and help her save it but Bryce ignored her and got on the bus. Later that day the big, old, gnarly Sycamore tree was cut down.
I really enjoyed this book because it showed two peoples perspectives, like when Julie asked Bryce to come up in the Sycamore tree it showed what Bryce was thinking and what Julie was thinking. This book is good for people of all ages because it is a good, fun book.
I think the best part of the entire book was when 20 boys got chosen to be basket boys. A basked boy is a boy who get bids from girls to have lunch with that boy. Bryce gets 210 dollars for just having two girls eat with him. Also the two girls who bid on him are the two most popular girls in the entire school. What makes me laugh is at that time Bryce was starting to like Julie so he went to sit by Julie in stead of the most popular girls in school
Overall this is a very good book for all ages. It show that just because you don’t like someone at first doesn’t mean you wont like them later. Also it show that you shouldn’t judge someone by their look or how they act. I would give this book 4 stars out of 5.

Touching Spirit Bear # 2

I think one of the biggest themes in the book is never give up on yourself. Garvey keeps trying to help Cole over and over again until he finally succeeds. One of the big times he never give up and tries really hard is when he visits Cole every day and talks to him about going to the island instead of jail. Luckily Cole says yes.
Also after Cole gets mauled by the Spirit Bear Garvey takes him back to the island because he believes that when Cole got mauled he changed. So off he and Cole go back to Spirit Bear Island. Because Garvey took Cole back to the island and Cole went back to the island shows that Garvey  and Cole trust, believe, and like each other.
A big part of the book I thought was interesting was when Cole went to soak in a freezing cold pond and carried a big rock up a hill every morning. I think the theme for that is even though you might think something is stupid or dumb everything has a meaning. The meaning for soaking in the pond was to relax and clear his mind. The reason he carried the rock up the hill was when he got to the top he pushed the rock down the hill and thought of the rock being his anger rolling down the hill.
One thing I didn’t think would happen is that Peter would come to the island with Cole. I think it was good for Cole and Peter to bond together on the island. One part that made me sad was close to the end when Peter started beating up Cole like Cole did to him in the beginning. That part of the book made me feel kind of bad for Cole because he wouldn’t hit back but he did do that to Peter in the beginning.
The last theme I think is do what you think is right because Cole thought it was right for Peter to come to the island with him to try and change both of them. Luckily it worked over a long period of time.
This was one of the best books I have ever read and I would recommend it to anyone and everyone.

Touching Spirit Bear

The main character in this book is fifteen years old and he is VIOLENT! His name is Cole. He gets into fights, steals from stores and swears a lot. He’s lanky with big knuckles. Whenever someone makes him angry or does something to him he wants (and gets) revenge. One day he bragged to his friends about stealing from a gas station, and a small kid named Peter ratted him out. Like I said before, he gets revenge. So after school that day he found Peter, cornered him, and started punching him in the face and smashing his head on the sidewalk.
Since that happened Cole has been locked in a cell at detention center so he wouldn’t hurt anyone else. Even after this Cole is still cocky and determined to get into fights and hurt people. While he’s in the detention center a man named Garvey comes to visit him. Every he comes in and gets to know Cole better. Then one day Garvey comes to the detention center and tells Cole that he can either go to jail for assaulting Peter, or he can join the circle of justice and live on a remote island for one year alone. Obviously Peter choses the island.
So Cole gets dropped of at the island and is so angry that he burns down his cabin and all of his supplies. Then a white figure come out of the woods and is a bear. Cole is so angry that he tries to kill it but instead of him killing the bear, the bear attacks him and breaks his ribs one of his arms, one of his legs and rips the skin off of his chest. While Cole is unable to move he realizes how lucky he is to be alive and how beautiful the world really is. Just before he blacks out Garvey arrives and brings him to the hospital.
After Peter gets mauled by the bear he tells everyone about the mystical Spirt Bear, but no one believes that it was a Spirit Bear that attacked him, they think it was just a normal ordinary bear.
That is a small summary of the main character and I suggest it to everyone who likes reading. It shows how easy our lives really are.

Choice Book Report Part 2

                                                                The Last Dog On Earth

One of the conflicts is there is a disease going around and Logan and his dog have to fight to survive. The disease is called P.O.S. and it turns dogs into bloodthirsty killers. People start to shoot their dogs because they think they have P.O.S, even though they know it’s very painful for the dog.
Logan got sent to boot camp because Robert didn’t like his behavior. Logan runs away from boot camp with some food, matches, and some string because the people there treat him bad, he’s homesick and he really misses Jack. About two days after he runs away from boot camp he comes up upon a big clump of scary, dark woods. After he’s walked in them for a while he sees a dark shape coming from the distance. He’s very scared that it’s an animal or human with P.O.S. Its running toward him, faster and faster it comes, and just when he thinks it’s going to attack him and rip him to pieces he realizes it’s Jack! He and Jack have to rely on there instincts to survive.
Another of the major conflicts is Jack and Logan have to walk all the way back to his house since he ran away from boot camp. They have to find different ways to catch and scavenge for food on limited resources. One of the things Logan did was he took a big garbage bag and poked tiny holes in it so that water could filter through it, and he also taped a stick to the garbage bag to make a fishing net to reach farther into the river to catch fish there. The reason he poked holes in the garbage bag was because if you try and swish a garbage bag through water without any holes in it’s really hard to move it fast.  Also he stole food from grocery stores and gas stations. Sometimes Jack would come out of the woods with a squirrel or a small rodent. Eventually Logan and Jack end up at Logan’s dads house in the middle of know where.
This is one of the best books I’ve read. It’s a very good story if you like animals, But if you get sad easily this book is NOT for you. I would give it 5 stars out of 5 because its a touching, heartfelt story about the relationship of animals and humans.

choice book report part one

My book is about a teenager named Logan. He is almost always angry since his dad left him and his mom. His mom remarried a man named Robert. Logan despised everything about him. His clothes, his voice, his personality, everything. Robert dislikes Logan too. One of the big reasons is because he wants Logan to be more like Devon Wallace. Devon is a goody two shoes boy who lives down the street. Logan is also an amazing inventor. The reason he’s amazing at it is because most of his birthday and christmas presents he doesn’t like so he turns them into things  he does like. The main things he makes are remote controls, tools that help train dogs better and robots. So, overall Logan is a cranky kid who really likes to make cool thing out of other things.
The day that Logan’s parents tell him he’s getting a dog, he’s angry, sad, and a little bit excited and happy all at the same time. He’s angry and sad because the only reason Robert and his mom are getting him a dog is because they think it will teach him how to be responsible like Devon Wallace. He’s also angry about it because he knows that they’ll make him do all the work like clean the poop and train her and all the stuff like that. But he’s also happy that he’s going to have his very own dog and maybe he’ll get along with her really well.
So off Logan and his mom went to get a purebred yellow lab. Another small part of why they’re getting a dog is because Robert wants a pure bred yellow lab like the Wallace's. But just then Logan asks his mom if they can go to the pound to get their dog so that they can save the life of a dog in need instead of paying a ton of money to get a purebred. Logan’s mom regretfully says yes even though she knows Robert will be mad when they get home. When they get to the pound Robert finds a sleek, red furred, hunting dog, and decides to name her Jack because Robert wanted the purebreds name to be Jack, even though its a girl dog.

second memoir

I remember the day when I got my dog. I had been asking my parents for over a year if i could get a puppy. I woke up on a bright day, and looked at the calender. It was my birthday eigth birthday! When my parents awoke they exclamed that they had a special surprise for me.
We went into the living room to open presents, and the first on was a fuzzy, fluffy, blue puppy toy. They second one was shiny, sparkly, silver water and food dish. The last one was a card. I opened it slowly and it said you're getting a puppy! Then my mom said "we'll pick her up tommorow!" Thats the time i got a dog.
